AThe test
One small test site selling car accessories. 21 buyer prompts, run through three AI engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overview. Rankshift's 30-day trial, no card needed.
BWhat it found
- October 8, 2026, across all 21 prompts: WeatherTech was named in 21% of answers, Thule in 7%, Covercraft in 6%. The test site: 0%.
- October 9, same prompts: WeatherTech 27%, Thule 6%, Covercraft 5%. One day apart, a different picture, so one manual check proves little.
- Per prompt, Top Sources lists the pages the answers were built from. On a prompt Thule wins with 100% share of voice, one source is a Better Trail article, "Thule vs. Yakima: Roof Cargo Box Showdown". The test site isn't in it.
- Gap Analysis showed no results on that prompt: its filter keeps sources cited for at least 2 competitors, and none qualified.
CWhat it took
- The brand book came back empty after Rankshift read the site, so I filled it in by hand.
- No competitors were suggested after about 35 seconds. I added three by hand.
- No results for about an hour. The first results only came after a manual Force run.
DCost and limits
US prices as of October 11, 2026, from Rankshift's pricing page:
- Starter: $92 a month, or $82 a month billed annually. 9,500 credits, 150 prompts a day.
- Professional: $210 a month, or $189 a month billed annually. 22,000 credits, 350 prompts a day.
- Every plan has unlimited projects and seats. Starter greys out crawler analytics, Looker Studio integration, and MCP and API access.
Our run: 21 prompts, times 3 engines, times 2 credits = 126 credits a run. Daily, at 31 runs a month by Rankshift's calculator, that's 3,906 credits a month. It fits inside Starter. The trial comes with 2,800 credits in total, so a daily schedule like ours runs out of trial credits.
Rankshift's own pages disagree on agent analytics: the pricing page greys out crawler analytics on Starter, while the agent analytics page says it's included on every plan.
EVerdict
Rankshift shows you, prompt by prompt, which of your tracked rivals AI names instead of you, and which pages it reads to get there. That's the part worth paying for. Setup is hands-on.
- One site or one brand: Starter covers it. Our daily three-engine run fits inside its credits.
- Agencies: projects and seats won't push you up a plan. Credits and reporting will. Tracking all engines daily on prompts like ours, or wanting Looker Studio and MCP, means Professional.
- Skip it if all you need is an occasional manual check of a few prompts.
